My new F-150 has the WORST seats!!
My new F-150 has the WORST seats!!
But then I knew that before I bought it. My '99 F-150 was as comfy as my sofa, but the 2005 and 6 F-150's have rock hard seats with punishing side bolsters that bite right into your hips. (Are you listening Ford? WHAT were you thinking?)
So here is what I did - hope it helps someone else.
First, I bought a sheepskin seatcover from Rocky Mountain Seat Covers. GREAT cover - crappy instructions, but it's not that hard to install, just a little tedious. Then I went down to the local textile supply and bought a chunk of 2" thick hi-density foam and fitted it to the hollow between the bolsters on the seat, inserting it under the cover. MAN, it's comfy now!
And here's a tip - I'm a woodworker by trade. The foam doesn't cut well with a utility knife, but it cuts like butta' with a bandsaw ! Just mark out your outline and tapers with a Sharpie, and slice it right off with a bandsaw.

I jumped into my wifes new Tahoe last night because I just didnt want to move cars around and it is a lot more comfertable the the F-150. When I do the leather swap in my truck Ill be adding foam.
