Gauge light

How hard is it to take out the gauge panel? The light bulb behind the speedo went out and I can't hardly see my speed at night. If it is a major pain I'll probably just leave it because I can see it a little from the other bulbs in the panel, it's just hard to see.

dash panel light bulb changes

Good luck, I have a Haynes manual for mine and it starts out talking about disabling the air bag system and blah, blah. So I decided to let them go till I'm down to where I have to use flashlight to see how much fuel is in it.Unfortunatly the speedometer is the one thing my wife can see while I'm driving. The dealer gets this job. Take Care, ILPT.

How pathetic is it when we have to get the dealer to replace a stupid burnt out instrument bulb? It's a fact of life that manufacturers plan out these minor inconveniences to bleed the bucks from our hard working, ever emptying wallets!
I'm not usually this negative, but sometimes we go two steps forward, and then ten steps back.....?

there is a way

i took my instrument cluster out today to fix the "intermittent digital odometer". it wasnt too hard, and i had easy access to the bulbs. i didnt disable my airbags, just took off the neg. battery cable, let it wait for a couple of min, then it was a breeze. hell i didnt even have to take off the steering column cover. just snapped off that piece under the instrument cluster, then had access to all the screws except for one. that last one is located behind the headlight switch, which is tricky to take off. once done, there are four screws holding the cluster on, take those off and it should come free, make sure you snap the tranmission gear indicator out of there and unplug the 2 wire harnesses in the back. now to get to the bulbs is going to take a tiny "star" bit, you can get to it ffrom the back of the cluster. once that white cover is off. you have access to all the bulbs. it took me about an hour and a half to take mine off, take it apart, fix the cracked solder, and put all back in. hope this helps!
