UV protectant and matte finish?
Ok, so I've been using the Meguiar's Interior Quick Detail on my interior surfaces for some time now, and I love it because it doesn't give me that annoying Armor-all shine. However, as of yet I haven't found anything on it to say that it is also a UV protectant. That being said, has anyone found anything out there that gives the same results, ie. matte finish, but with a UV rating?
QD I has 'some' UV protection but, is more intended for cleaning light dust and similar off of these surfaces...
I like Meguiar's Natural Shine as a low gloss product as well.. you might give that one a try. Red bottle... I've seen it at Auto Zone and, of course, at meguiars.com

Hey RP,
I seem to be following you around this forum--Anyway, I just bought the Natural shine today and was searching the threads to see if it could be used on the plastic bedrail caps that come on the 04-05's. Mine are black and I don't want any greying over time. The bottle says that if splatter were to occur on painted or non-painted surfaces, it should be removed immediately. The wording is very strange and as I'm no expert in semantics, I am not sure whether the removal is necessary on splatter only, or any amount on plastic surfaces. What is your experience.

I seem to recall that some of the dressings out there were causing problems with certain varieties of plastics.... that being said, I think that's why they added that text to the bottle.
As a product to care for your rails and to keep them UV protected, Natural Shine is a product that you can certainly use with no problem. I will tell you thought that you may have some problems with the product running when it's exposed to rain... A better choice for exterior use would be a product like Meguiar's #40 or Vinylex or Aerospace 303.

Umm... 303 is a bit shiny. Great protection though. Natural shine is more of a matte look.
Another product that I just thought of (however, it's quite an investment at $40/gallon -- and only available by the gallon), is Meguiar's Hyper Dressing. This one is unique in that it can be diluted to your specifications. I use it all the time on tires and trim... one is mixed at 1:1 for high-gloss... another mixed at 4 or 5:1 for matte.
It's great stuff... strong fragrance though. Grape. I love the stuff but, find it difficult to use on any interior...

Good to know. I'll try the Natural Shine first and see how it does. I don't mind the shine soo much, but I don't want it to attract the dust and dirt either. That is my primary objection to the shiny finish. I used something on them a short while ago and the first dirt road I hit made the bed rail caps look like road tar. I kinda bought the Nat shine on a whim, so I'll give that a shot--then the 303 for the interior and see how it deos on the outside as well.
Texas f150,
Any luck?

Well I took RP's advice and tried out the Natural Shine. Its a bit shinier than I'd like, but I'll sacrafic that for some UV protection. Next on my list is to try alternating between the two, natural and QD to see if that doesn't give me more of the look I'm after. As for the bedrails, 303 has seemed to work fairly well for me. Thanks for the input.
