Swapping Xl door panels?
Just curious if the XLT panel fits the same as the XL. I have a 98 F-150 Scab with manual widows and locks, wondering if it is possible to swtich with the XLT panel and wire up power windows and locks...or it would be easier to do some kind of aftermarket application.
Anyone try this with success and keeping it neat and clean inside?
Also thinking of remote locking without button inside.
Thanks

I would think the panels would fit the same.I did this conversion in my old 91 f150 and it was long process i had to remove the dash to get the wiring harness installed since it wasn't already there. Installing the window mechanism wasnt that bad just get one out of an xlt and install the trac but it was a pain trying to push the wiring through the little black boot between the door and the cab.
In my new 01 XL.. I don't know about aftermarket windows . I did install an after market remote keyless entry in my truck and it was rather easy but becareful some of them can be hard to wire.
I would not go with any of the universal fit window mechanisms that use a chain or wire to roll it up. i would buy the factory if you can find it. but you will most likely need the wiring harness also..let me know if you do the factory install and the how much it set you back..
if you need info on the power locks i installed feel free to ask. I plan on doing a window install but not for a while..need to get an overhead console..wish i had the money to get the truck how i wanted it when i first bought it..But colleges students arent rich.

Thanks for your information 2many, it will be a little while before I can get to this, probably in the fall when I have more money, and when it cools down some. I was thinking the keyless entry was pretty simple install, just curious of what are the costs on it.
Thanks again,
Mike
