Question Steering Wheel Covers

I know some people opt to go with a new wheel, but I would like to see my options. I have had the wheel replaced 2 times under warranty. The leather is wearing/deteriorating at the about the 10-2 positions where there are the joints. I have seen some covers on other vehicles that are carbon fiber and leather mix. I can't convince myself to go with a cheap wrap cover. But I love the feel of the leather. Help?

like kclm7 did above, i put the wheel skin on my f150. I like the way it looks on the wheel and it makes it thicker. Good product.Cheaper than a new wheel.

I have the tan interior, but their tan looks very dark. What color(s) did you go with? I wonder how a black wrap would look on the tan... or the tan and black on the tan wheel... Thanks.

Check out www.wheelskins.com I've put their covers in two different cars. I think it makes the wheel feel alot better and it's not a cheap cover. I bought mine from http://www.dccarcare.com/whlskns.html and they were great to work with.

dnale, I've only used grey colors. My Grand Prix is dark charcoal interior with lighter grey in the headliner and a-pillars. I bought a 2-tone wheelskin for it. If your wheel now is black, I would just get a black wheelskin.

Pretty much everything in the interior is tan. THe seats, carpet, steering wheel, horn, the works...all tan. Maybe the black and tan euro...

dnale, I would give DC car care a call and ask if they could send you a sample because you're not sure about the match. The guy that answer the phone was really good to work with when I ordered from him.

Good luck,
Steve

There is a picture on that website of the gray and black Euroskin installed on a Ford SVO wheel with the big spokes that looked pretty good... good enough that I ordered one! I'm curious about the installation myself. I've had a few of those vinyl cheapies in the past and thought they looke pretty crappy, but I understand this kit comes with a sewing needle and nylon thread for the stitching so I'll take a chance on it. If it even looks halfway decent, for $32 it's not a bad deal in my mind.

How do these wheelskins look when they go on the F150 wheel? IT's a pretty good sized spoke. Does it look sloppy? I want it to still be nice.

They take about an hour to install and look great IMO. They're not like those cheap $4 ones that you lace around the outside of the wheel. I'm not sure what they look like in an F-150.

Thumbs up

UPDATE: Just got the Wheelskin Eurocover today in black & gray. Finished installing it about 30 minutes ago and I have to say I'm impressed! The installation was easy but tedious since "sewing" is not my strong suit... took about an hour but it looks good. The colors match and blend well with my medium graphite interior. The fit around the BIG spokes on the stock Ford wheel is alright but not perfect. Other than that, it's a great addition to the interior, especially for the $32 pricetag!

PS... one word of advice! The instructions say you might want to wear gloves during the installation process. If your hands aren't made out of leather, I would have to agree!!! That waxed nylon thread leaves nice little cuts and blisters because you have to keep tension on it as you go. Think I'll go wrap my hands around a cold beer to ease the pain!

I can post some pics later if anybody is interested.

Later!

Cool

Okay, here they are! I'm posting 3 pics of the installed cover. The cover over the wide spokes is tight and that was my main concern. The 2 colors I chose are black and what they call light/medium gray. I think it's a nice accent to the interior and the leather is soft and comfortable. I'd say time and money well spent! The folks at DC Car Care where I ordered it from (see link in post above) are great to deal with, too...

I ordered my black and tan today. I should have it by the weekend. I hope I get time to put it on. I think the tan will semi-match the darker trim around the stereo and guages.

Wink

JonC....great news that the wheel cover turned out well.

I'am also looking at this same wheel cover for my 2001 Supercrew and was wondering if you could post some pics of the one you did. My truck has the same interior color as yours and would be nice to see a pic of it with the cover on it.

Your pics would be muchly appreciated!
