Post Mushy Seats

I have the 60/40 split bench seats (cloth). After 20,000 miles the drivers side has gotten mushy and just doesn't feel comfortable (firm) as it used to. Has anyone else had this problem? I was thinking about having someone replace the foam with one that is stiffer and longer lasting. Any other recommendations?

Thanks.

Just had my friend at the dealer do mine. Bucket seat thought. But the new cushions were different then the old one. A little different design. I also had the the back seat frame replaced bec it was bent. I have 25000 miles but it started getting bad around 20000. It was all covered under warranty.

what sort of price tag is associated with replacing the foam on a seat? I am clean out of warrenty - and i guess the seat was not designed for someone 240lbs.

If you do it yourself it should not be so bad, the foam is cheap, but it is a little but of a project, if your good with your hands etc.. should take about an hour. It sure is nice with the new seat foams though..........

Cool

The answer is to put on some weight. If you have a fat *** like I do, the weight is spread out over a greater area and the foam lasts much longer.

I have the 60/40 bench and it seems to be going "mushy" on me after about 30,000 miles.

I didn't think this would be covered under warranty. I am going to call the dealer next week. I'll let you know what they say.

Thanks.

If you're thinking of replacing the foam yourself get ready for a shock, it's anything but cheap. I tried buying just the foam for an older GT and found it was over $90 just for the seat-bottom.

Get in good with the parts guy and try to get it for a bit above cost. Probably around $40.00. and when you do the bottom and cut out the metal ring clamps (just can't remember the correct term, brain fart) just use small wrap ties, work great. quick and easy, I had one that was stabbing me all the time. The rest of the seat cover is all pull and clip type style. It's a one piece foam.

Talking

I used to have a 75 Mercedes 250. Loved that car but I had to leave the seats blown out because the cushions and covers for
ONE seat cost between three to five hundred! dollars. That $90 bucks is chicken feed, lol. I think the name you were looking for was "hog rings"correct?
