Unhappy Where are my floor mats?

Just got my new XLT supercab and it didn't come with floor mats. I checked the color brochure from Ford on options and it lists carpeted, color-keyed floor mats as standard equipment on the XLT package. Anybody else get floormats with their XLT or did Ford just decide not to provide me with a set?

Did you check the window sticker? If they're not listed you didn't get them. But you can still argue your case with the dealer that they're in the brochure.

I ordered my 2000 XLT and was happy to read that floor mats were 'standard'. HOWEVER, when it arrived 10/21/1999, the sticker had a $50.00 charge for the mats. I questioned the dealer about this and pulled out the brochure. They said it was a factory charge that they could not control. As the brochure says...options and equipment can change without notice.

Indyfan is correct...if the sticker has a charge for the mats and you did not get any...go back to your dealer and get a set (2 front, 2 rear).

Well on my 2000 XLT under the standard equipment included at no extra charge under interior it says color carpet w/floormats so you should have them read your sticker to see if there are included then go after the dealer to get yours.

I had the same problem. Took delivery of my XLT SuperCab on 12/27.... after reading here about others who "explained to dealers about the brochure" I sent an email message to my dealer customer care and to Ford customer assistance center requesting my floor mats. The dealer called two days later and said even though they did not know what brochure I found the list in they would provide mats. They ordered them, and the front ones are in (showed 99 F-150 on the cardboard hanger) and the back ones are backordered.

I took delivery of my 99 supercab in July of 99. The sticker listed floor mats @ $50.00, but mine only had the rear mats. Sales rep said someone must have taken them out for another vehicle. I said fine, you take a front set out of another to satisfy my deficiency. Said he could not do it - had to order them. It took 5 weeks to get them in. I was not a happy camper. I suspect this is a dealer related issue, but I have heard of others on this site complaining of long delays with floor mats. It's not like I needed a new engine or tranny. Go figure.

The invoice has the final say-so on what the vehicle is supposed to be equiped with. Make sure the VIN on the sticker matches the VIN on the dash. Mix-ups have been known to happen. Make sure you check the Optional Equipment side of the sticker in addition to the Standard Equipment side. A good Pre-Delivery Department would catch these mistakes upon recieving the units. They would also catch missing items such as antennas, mud-flaps, FLOORMATS, and the such. From personal experience this does not happen that often. Most likely it is a salesperson removing them from one unit and putting them into another to satisfy a customer. The correct way to do this would be to order them as soon as they are discovered missing. If you keep robbing Peter to pay Paul as the old saying goes you eventually have a great big mess with lots of unsatisfied customers. I have seen this happen especially in large dealerships with 30+ salespeople. It can lead to chaos. It may take a while to get your missing floormats but it will eliminate this problem for the next customer. This may not make you feel any better but I thought you might like to have some insight as to what may be going on from someone who works for a dealership. If the dealership has a good relationship between service/parts and sales these problems are drastically reduced.

My window sticker does not list any floor mats or a charge for them. But I do have the brochure in had that shows them as standard equipment on the XLT package. Its a small town dealership here in Iowa and I have had very good luck with them trying to keep me happy! All I can do is head over and find out what they can do about it.

Thanks for the input!

Best of luck....even if you end up paying the $50.00 for the mats..it's worth it. The factory front floor mats are much wider than most aftermarket mats.

I noticed at the bottom of the 2000 sales brochure under "F-150 Features and Options" it mentions their policy on Product changes and Options availability.

See if they will sell you a set at 'dealer cost' since you bought the truck from them. It can't hurt!!!

Ford quit including the floor mats around October 99. I ordered my truck in mid October and although the brochure and even the quote sheet from the dealer listed floor mats as standard, I was informed by the sales rep that they are no longer standard. Sure enough come December, no floor mats.

I went to the dealer today, the only offer I got was that he would get me a set for $60, which according to him is his invoice price. I'm just not sure how much I would use them, they are quite nice, he showed me a pair, but I think I will be using a pair of those big rubber ones that hold a gallon of water most of the time.

He did however replace the antenna that looked like it had been put on with a pair of Vise-grips. One out of two ain't bad. Thanks for the input.

Question

Santa got me a set of "Catch-All" mats for my 99 sc...they are super. Needless to say, I now have an extra set of almost new grey floor mats taking up space in my garage. FYI, the Catch-Alls fit perfectly and have a screw-in locking system that keeps them in place. I really like these new mats. If your dealer screws you and you have to buy mats, I'd recommend "Catch-All"

------------------

'99 F150 SC, 4x2, Oxford white, flareside, 5.4, 3.55 rearend,
bodyside mouldings, Snugtop hard tonneau, K&N dropin and airbox mod.
Duraliner drop-in (gave up on the Penda Nascar). Gibson Supertruck. Ford 2-piece bra. Catch-All floor mats.
No door cracks yet at 6K!!!

Future mods: 2/4 lowering, and some Roush stuff.
