power door locks

My passenger side power door lock does not work with the keyfob or when I press the door lock button inside the cab, the only way to unock the door is to either pull on the handle or use the key in the lock. Has this happen to anyone else and what might be some of the causes of it, also would I be able to fix it myself.

Thank you

It's prolly the solenoid, or, as Ford calls it, the lock actuator.
I remember changing the one on my '90 Lariat some years ago, and it had this gigantic 1/4" diameter pop rivet (that's the shank) holding it on the door.

search is your buddy

A LOT of owners from 99-01 (the most common, but not only years) are affected by the loss of the door locks. Luckily as the forums has people from all different walks of life and careers some have the aptitude to try what others aren't willing to and then share said experience.

Try this link on how to repair your current state of malfunction.

If that doesn't work. The part itself is always on ebay.com for around forty dollars Each. Or fordparts.com.

Or the evil stealership

Text describing actuator removal shown below, but cannot determine how to attache accompanying pictures. Without these I'm afraid the text is not much help.

Removal

Remove the front door trim panel. For additional information, refer to Section 501-05 .
Position the watershield aside.
Remove the rear glass channel bolt and position the glass channel aside.

Disconnect the rods from the door latch.
Disconnect the lock cylinder rod.
Unclip the locking clip.
Disconnect the door lock rod.

Position the front door latch aside.
Remove and discard the screws.
Position the latch aside.

Disconnect the electrical connectors.

Remove the latch.
Disconnect the cable from the latch.

Installation

NOTE: Install the front door latch screw in the small opening first, followed by the large opening.

To install, reverse the removal procedure.
If necessary, use Multi-Purpose Grease Spray F5AZ-19G209-AA or equivalent meeting Ford specification ESR-M1C159-A to lubricate the latches.
