What is steering wheel material? '97 F150

I think the steering wheel in my '97 F150 is common to many years, and probably the Explorrer, too. My question is: What is the material?

It kind of looks and feels like nice leather, but there's no seam anywhere, and the 11:00-1:00 position is becoming worn and rough. I was thinking I'd condition it with leather conditioner, but how effective will that be if it's not leather? If it ISN'T leather, is there anything I can treat it with to keep it from drying up further (Armor-All?)?

Thanks!

I made the mistake of putting armor all on my 97 Mustang GT's wheel - big mistake. Not sure if its the same material, but from your description, I will pass along some advice I got from this board: Saddle Soap. Get some plain Saddle Soap, apply lightly, and buff with clean LINT FREE (microfiber or such) cloth. Will look good, preserve, and wont make the steering wheel slick so you wont lose control while driving.
