Exclamation need seat conversion/reapholstery help!

i have a 2001 reg cab short bed f-150 manual, and i have recently aquired some captains chars out of an expedition. the seats need to be re-apholstered, and my questions are:

1) does anybody know how much re-apholstering costs (ballpark figure)?

2) is it possible to convert from a bench seat to a bucket seat, and what all is involved?

i am so far thinking of either building a custom arm-rest or getting the center concole part out of a wrecked expedition, but i do not know what all is required. the seats have the tracks on them and i think they should be able to use some of the stock bolt area of the bench seat. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Thumbs up

Well I have re-done a few seats in my time, and I will tell you something. You'd will be alot better off having them re-done. You figure most of your cost will be in parts and labor. Depending on the material you choose. I know that tweed is very expensive, and it's not too comfortable on your skin when you wear shorts and go driving. Also there is marine grade vynil. Or naguhyde(pleather, fake leather etc.) which will stand up to the sunlight, and water and mildew. Time frame wise, I did my bench seat in a day. I also had access to a medium to heavy duty sewing machine. Seat reupholstery is a good idea in my book. As far as converting from bench to bucket, far as I know all you would have to do is reuse the brackets from the bucket seats. But don't get skimpy on the new nuts and bolts. I suggest grade 8. It's only your life were talking about. Hope everything works out bubba.
