lumbars broke

Hi I am new here. I recently picked up a 98 SC XLT 4.6. My lumbar on the drivers seat does not work. I see a cable running to the seat from the ****. Has anyone ever fixed this problem? I know its not a big deal but it would be nice to have. Thanks Bob

Yep,

The cable likely broken, but you have to buy the whole assembly. I think it cost me about $70. You need to pull off the seatback cover (simple clips at the hinge joint) and route the cable. It may by easier if you pull the seat out. Mine took about 45 minutes to do.

If you want to know about anything that's broke, ask Bent6.

(Except for the Passenger door handle. At 261,000 miles he's replaced everything but that.)

My lumbar broke last week on my 02 KR. I took it to the dealer and they told me it was not covered under warranty and I needed to replace the entire lumbar support.
After reading this thread I opened up the back of the drivers seat and found that the clips that hold the assembly to the seat were broken.
I just got back from Home Depot with 2 heavy zip ties and repaired it for .50, I am not real mechanically inclined but this one was a snap.
I did call the service manager at the dealer and told them what I thought of the service department.
Good luck
JG
