Take apart fold down armrest

Hello,

I have a 2001 F150XLT Off Road. I would like to make a modification to the fold down armrest (my truck has a 60/40 split bench in front).

Does anyone out there know how to get this apart? I need to get in under the inside of it and can't seem to figure out how it comes apart.

Any help anyone can offer would be great.

Thanks in advance,

Dan

Cool

There are 2 bolts sticking out of the passenger-side seat, deep in the cushion, that secure the console to the seat assembly. You have to push the cushion out of the way to even see them, and then you will need a wrench to pull them off.

After you remove the nuts, the whole console will slide towards the passenger side door and then pop out.

Pop the plastic trim off the inside of the pivot arms to reveal more screws / hardware that holds it together.

Hope this helps...

I just recently added a new black cover on my arm rest. All you do is remove the "lid" by removing the screws at the back of the lid. Flip the lid over on its' top. Then, take a very small slotted screwdriver and CAREFULLY pry the black perimeter trim ring from around the lid.

After removing the trim ring, the cloth cover comes right off. You can add more cushion to the top to make it more comfortable then just make certain you cut your new cloth material such that it "tucks" under the trim ring.

Good luck and enjoy the new cover.

Jeff

ARMREST

JEFF

THANKS, BUT I ALREADY DID A JOB ON MINE. I COULD NOT GET
THAT THIN BLACK TRIM RING OFF WITH OUT GETTING THE
PIECE OFF THAT GOES AROUND MY DOUBLE CUP HOLDER. I
FOUND OUT AFTER BREAKING A COUPLE CLIPS THAT IF I WOULD
OF TOOK OF WHAT I COULD OF THE BLACK THIN TRIM RING,
FOLDED THE MATERIAL INSIDE OUT TAKE OUT THE FOAM. THEN
I WOULD OF BEEN ABLE TO GET TO THE CLIPS THAT HELD THAT
PIECE ON AROUND THE CUP HOLDERS. I WAS ABLE TO SALVAGE
3 OUT OF 8 CLIPS ON THE PIECE. JUST FOR REFERENCE TO ALL
THE PIECE CAN NOT BE BOUGHT FROM FORD SEPERATE YOU HAVE
TO BUY THE WHOLE ARMREST ($200)
THANKS
JEFF
