I noticed a crack in the dash of my '02 s-cab FX4. Driver's side, at the edge of the windshield defroster duct opening. Is this common?

 

I have the same crack in my 01 XLT Scab 4x4.

This is my truck. I have it fixed now, but they had to take the whole dash apart. If it is the same thing that happened to mine, I know what it is. There is a metal clip that came out on mine that can't be put back in without taking out the dash. This is on a 2002 Supercab F150

 

WOW! Good Lord no....mine is a 2-3 inch crack that comes from the edge of the defroster vent opening, on the side facing you in the pic of your crack.
