replacing bulbs behind A/C controls?

My bulbs burnt out that light up the A/C panel in my 97 150 lastnight. How do i access the bulbs to replace them?

Do I have to tear apart half the dash like i did to replace the one in the gauge cluster? Whats the best way?

Thanks!

Hey 97 -

No, you do not have to tear apart your dash to replace the A/C panel bulbs, I've replaced mine before.

There is a plastic trim piece that goes around your radio and A/C control panel. Just get your fingers around it and it simply pulls straight off, no screws. Once this trim piece is off, you will see a screw in each corner of the A/C control panel. Just remove these 4 screws and the A/C control panel pulls right out, allowing you to access the bulbs behind it. Replace bulbs, re-attach A/C control panel, and simply snap the plastic trim piece back on.

Now you can help me... just last week one of my instrument cluster bulbs went out, behind the fuel gauge... how do I go about this task???

Just like he said

All I have to add is that I had to pry on the interior trim just a tad to remove the bottom screws and the ac control panel. I used sylvania 194LL lamps. The old lamps are in some twist out holders. You pull the lamp out of the holder and push the new one back in. The holders are pretty obvious, but they don't have any wires going to them. My profile says 1995 F150, but I did this job on a 1997 Supercab F150 XLT
