Question Seat Belt wont release

I have a 97 f150 problem with a passenger side seatbelt, that once it is buckled in place, stays tight and if you move back it stays in a lock position. Is there an adjustment or does it need lubrication or replacement. IN order for people to be comfortable you need to keep the shoulder part loose with your hand.

thanks

It's not a problem; it's a feature! (as described in the user manual). This pre-locking mechanism is great for holding down carseats.

To engage: pull the seat belt out completely until it can't go any farther, then slowly let go of the belt to let it retract to the desired length.

To disengage: pull the belt out completely again until it can't go any farther (there will be a clicking sound), the belt now will retract like normal (no pre-locking).

Note that this feature is not avail. with the driver seat.

Hope it helps.
