Dash Lights Burnt Out
Almost all the lights in my instrument cluster are burnt out. They are the green lights that let you see all the gauges. Its a 97 4.6L f-150. Is there an easy way to buy the lights and put them in myself or would it be easier to just take it somewhere? I'd appreciate anyones feedback.

There are two sizes of bulbs in the cluster: big ones and 'lil ones (The book at the parts store will tell you the numbers).
Do you kids know how to removed the dash panels to access the cluster? You don't want to pay someone $100 to replace a $0.99 part

Hey AjRagno,
Are you saying that you know or that it would be helpful to find out? When I installed my Bulldog remote starting system there was a special tool needed to get the side vent out but I managed to kill the better part of an hour without it. Even at that point I wasn't close to the dash lights. I'd like to see a schematic befor trying it and if I did, I'd change 'em ALL!!!!!!!!!!

I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 97. I TOOK THE COMPONENETS OFF TO GET TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THE TRICKY PART IS GETTING THE LIGHT SWITCH OFF. IN ORDER TO DO THIS YOU HAVE TO PULL IT STRAIGHT OFF, THEN TURN IT 180 DEGREES SO IT IS UPSIDE DOWN. THEN TURN IT, THIS WILL RELEASE THE SWITCH MODULE, ALLOWING YOU TO TAKE THE DASH COMPONENTS OFF. THERE ABOUT 10 SCREWS YOU NEED TO TAKE OFF. AFTER THAT TAKE OUT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AND CHANGE THE LIGHT BULBS. THEY SHOULD HAVE A NUMBER ON THEM TO REFERENCE THE NEW BULBS. I KNOW THIS FROM EXPERIENCE I BROKE MY SWITCH THE FIRST TIME. GOOD LUCK.
GOT IT! All i needed to know was in a repair book I bought. Real easy with that. The number of the four big lights you need is 198...got them at the dealer for 3 bucks for the four. Another added bonus is that when i unplugged the battery because of working on the airbag, it reset something and now my check engine light is off. OO-RAH!
