Angry Seats coming apart in 03 XLT s/c

Just wondering if anyone else there has run into this problem. Both the drivers side and passengers side seats in my 2003 XLT s/c are starting to come apart. There is a seam about 6 inches from the front of the seat that gets rubbed every time you get in out of the truck, all the threads are starting to pull apart, I don't think it will be long before I have a hole there.
The truck isn't a work truck and gets very light use, you would think the seats would hold up a little better.
Does anyone know if Ford will cover this or is it considered normal wear?.
Thanks in advance for any help.

If it's as bad as you say it is, there shouldn't be any issues getting it taken care of under warranty. Take it to the dealership NOW before you put many more miles on it. That way at least it's documented that you're having troubles and hopefully, they'll go ahead and take care of it on the spot.

Also, don't use the words 'normal wear' at the dealership. When you say that, it gives the service guy a road in to deny your claim.

Make it very clear that you don't think this should be happening and you won't be satisfied until they replace the lower seat covers on BOTH seats.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the replies. I'm gonna head down to the dealer this week and see what they have to say, then I'm going to buy some nice seat covers.

Unhappy Seat seam

I had the exact problem on my 2002 -- Dealer took a picture of it -sent that to Ford -- They ordered a new cover for the seat and installed it when it was shipped to them. Problem is it is doing the same thing again (why in the heck did they have to put a seam there!!??). I only have 14300 miles on the truck!!

Exclamation

Sounds like something I would take to a local upholsterer, rather than Ford. They could pull the cover off, and resew and reinforce that seam. If it only happens over and over anyway, then something else needs to be done.,,,,98

Just a suggestion....

Did any one get any response from ford on the seat covers that are comming apart. A guy at work has 10000 miles on his and has had the bottoms replaced once and they are comming apart (unraveling) again. He has an 03 XL.

I'll let you know what Ford does about the seat. The truck is going in at the end of the week for a rattle in the passenger seat and they are going to look the seam then.
