Has anyone installed power door locks with remotes in the their truck? If so, where did you get yours, how much, easy install and pros or cons? All feed back is appreciated.

I installed a remote starter and power door locks in my 97 last year. I got the lock actuators off ebay and the relays(2) from a local car shop. Total install was about three hours and I was taking my time to hide the wires. I'd say I spent about $40cdn on all the parts. Check around local car stereo shops for prices though. I found out that the Futureshop here in town would have done it for $65 plus tax. I saved 25 bucks but I also didn't have some high school kid playing with my wiring.

Thank you

Thank You very much for your reply. I plan on doing this myself when i buy the kit. I am also planning on installing a selenoid that locks the tailgate from the inside because my tailgate handle doesnt have a lock( )Anyone ever install the locking mechanism for the tail gate?

I installed one of these not too long ago and it works great. Its a pretty simple install and easy to wire. I also just tapped into my passenger side relay wiring for a new lock on my ARE cover so it will unlock with 2 pushes of the key fob and lock with one. Keeps me from leaving the back unlocked when I dont want too. I know my tailgate and stuff under the cover will be a little more safe now.
