Fire Extinguisher in Truck

Does anybody carry a fire extinguisher in their truck and where do you have it mounted? What kind of fire extinguisher is it. Any pics?

I've got a 10# strapped to the outside of my tool box that has come in handy twice and been stolen 4 times

I keep a small 5# extinguisher IN my toolbox. That way its not in my way inside the truck not likely to be stolen by unruly slackers.

Just curious, other than the "ugly" factor, can anyone think of a reason to NOT have an extinguisher inside the passenger area?

I'm curious since I'm currently stationed in Belgium and it is a law here to have one mounted within reach of the driver. The theory is that if there is an accident and the driver is pinned, he can still use it to save his own life.

I have a 10# mounted on my job box in my bed ( under cap ).

As for why not in the pass compartment, I would guess ugly factory only, for the little research I did on them ( LITTLE being the key word here ) there is nothing dangerous about a fire extinguisher in the cab as in pressureized and bursting wise.

I keep looking at the 5# and 2.5# chrome plated ones, but would want to get a halon ( or halon replacement I should say ) one for the interior, but talk about costs.

If anyone else has some info on this, that I missed, please let me know.

Steve
