Who Has Installed New Carpet?
Who Has Installed New Carpet?
I have the factory rubber mat and I like it so much that I am hate to pull it out to put down new carpet. The sellers, like JCWhitney tell you that their carpet is designed to fit ONLY after you have removed everything right down to the steel floorboards.
Has anyone had any luck just putting the carpet right over the top of the rubber mat? I would like to keep it as sound-proofing and to protect the floorboard.
What have you guys discovered?

The only problem I could see with this would the side trim and kick panels. The gap around the floor might not work with the two thicknesses of floor covering. Now, you could try it? It may work or it may not. I know there is a crease in my carpet from the kick panels, so it may be tight. Maybe if you could get a carpet without a backing?,,,,98
98 awsome pic!!!! didn't even recoginze your truck!
with those rims it looks totally different. big improvment
anyway, my buddy just put in a jcwhitney carpet in his 97 F150. he said it was a friggin royal PITA!!! i'd think trying to leave the stock part down and not removing all you're supposed to might make it even tougher, but goodluck
