HID Foglights

Hey guys, have a 2007 F150 FX4 Screw and want to put HID headlights and fog lights. I know the headlights will need ballasts, but do the fog lights need separate ones as well?
Also anyone have some info on aftermarket headlight housings that are good quality or specific ones you own?
Thanks guys I appreciate any info

Whoa - hold on thar, Cooter!

Very BAD idea - HID capsules in ye stock housings will produce massive glare and are entirely inappropriate fer on-road use - both heads and fogs.

To answer ye question - both need ballasts AND proper relay harnesses. No HID capsule can run without a ballast (one per capsule ).

I cain't stop ye if'n ye wanted to be a dufus and proceed anyway (much to the chagrin and disgust) of the good fellers runnin' retrofits on this site - so at least buy quality - from here: www.theretrofitsource.com

^ He speak thee truth. It looks cool yes, but not at oncoming traffic in the rain.

Admitting, I do have HIDs in my fog lamps. 6000k kit from Retrosolutions.com and they came with separate ballasts and I ordered a fused wiring harness for them. Instant response and 3+ years going.

Easy son! Looking to buy HID's then housing with projectors after. I'm defiantly not that guy. Seems like all the housings that don't break your bank suck though. I'm just looking for someone that's got a pair they trust.

Skip HIDs and go straight to direct replacement from either JW speaker, or theretrofitsource.com. these will have a very wide beam pattern even wider than most OEM HIDs. The output will be fog light orientated. You don't need any ballasts, and they are direct plug and play with no glare.

I used to run HID's in my stock housings in both fogs and headlights. I took the headlights out for my state inspection once and left them out because I kept getting flashed by oncoming traffic. I left the fogs though. My fogs were aimed low to reduce glare in fog/rain for me and I witnessed them as oncoming traffic many times and there was never a glare, not even a little. The headlights though, that is a much different story. That being said, I won't be running them like that in my new truck. I plan on staying stock Halogens until I can buy the above mentioned retrofitted housings or OEM housings. There are plenty of options and I am sure more will be posted. Good luck on your HID conversion.

Personally I'd go with the JWSpeaker before the XBLED....the XBLED looses a lot of foreground light

I've never seen the JW speaker output yet

Rigid has new DOT approved LED lights as well.
Otherwise retro a Matchbox or Mini H1 and have quad high-beams :D

They flat out rock. Best output I've seen thus far

Oh yeah ... lookee like they trump th' ol' JB's, reckon.

Only strike agin' 'em, IMVHO, is they's kinda-sorta 'industrial' and 'square-peg-inna-round-hole' appearance.

:beers:

Yes murderous output really. Claimed 1700 lumens per side.
I am liking the square peg honestly especially when in the drivers seat.
