Question Puddle Lighting / Interior Lighting (custom) HELP!

Today I was working on a project which I thought I had quite planned out ..well.. I've ran into an issue and need help.

I am wiring LED strips under each door, to be lit when the interior lighting turns on. I've gotten all the wiring done clean. The plan was to run an extra hot/ground from the overhead lighting down to the driver side floor. I tested (1) lighting strip to the overhead lighting and it worked.

The problem..

When I was wiring the new hot/ground to the overhead lighting to run down to the floor, I crossed the wires briefly! I have a light tester and it still runs power but it doesn't light any of the strips, nor my overhead lighting if I reconnect it.. did I blow a fuse? It still lights my little light tester.. I assume a blown fuse wouldn't do that?

Is there a better place for me to wire into for my strips to run off the interior lighting queue? I don't want these to work off a switch/constant hot.

I appreciate any help someone can offer. Thanks!

Hey man,
I did the exact same thing when I was wiring mine I blew a fuse. I had to just open the fuse box and pull them till I found the one.

I ran a wire up the pillar to the left of the steering wheel then ran it over to the dome light under the head liner. From there I just tied all the wires into it there.

Hope this helps.

Ryan.

It wasn't a fuse. I wired something wrong. LOL.. I was working in the day and made the mistake and found the wrong colored wire during the night..

Here's the results.

Looks great!! Good job.

Have you looked into putting the led bulbs in the dome lights? That and my puddle lights are my two favorite things I've done so far.

I've done the front lights but not the center festoon one.. I have no idea why I just.. haven't.. I actually keep it off 95% of the time.

Will look into getting one soon.
