Fog lamps on in auto position (2002)

I have a 2002 Expedition in Canada that has DRL's. All factory not an aftermarket system. What I do is run my lights in the auto function all the time. But my fogs don't work unless I take it out of auto and put it to the head lamp on position and pull the switch to activate the lights.

Now I did find a page that told me to file a new ramp in the auto position and that will work. But he also said that I could splice the #5 wire to the #7 wire in the head light switch connector. I did that and found that my fog lights were on all the time even with the the key out of the ignition. I had to put the head light switch into the off position to shut the fogs off.

So any suggestions as to how I can have my fog lights turn on with the switch in the auto position and also shut off when the auto lights shut off with the key out of the ignition?

Thanks guys

You have to file the ramp down. Its very easy to do. I did it to my truck also. Took me twenty minutes and that's in and out.
Just read that post you found step by step and you'll be fine..

Yes. What I did was disassemble the head light switch. Then put the switch in auto. Drilled a hole to the same depth as the fog lamp ramp. Then cleaned it up with a file. Now I can just leave the switch in auto and pull the switch out to activate the fog lamps. No swapping wires or splicing. Took me 5 min to do it. I didn't need to file a ramp because the lights will turn off in auto just like my head lights.
