HID cut off line for leveled trucks
HID cut off line for leveled trucks
07 F-150 retroed ls460 HID projectors my current cut off line is 45 inches at 25 feet but my headlights measure 43 inches off ground. Everything I've read says cut off line should be 2.5 to 3 inches lower than headlight measurment off ground. I'm not getting flashed by oncoming traffic and lights go under mirrors of most of the vehicals I get behind. Anybody with HID projectors and leveled truck have similer measurements and know there cut off line measurments compared to there ground to headlight measurments? Thanks

My trucked is leveled and center of projector to the ground is 42". My drivers side low part of cutoff is 39" to the ground at 25' feet away. Think of it this way whenever people see below your cutoff they see it as your brights are on. You spent the money on some wicked ls460's spend the time to set them up properly. So people envy you, not be pissed at you! Getting flashed means nothing, They are probably thinking great here comes ANOTHER *******. I seen a guy drive with his factory projectors brights on for 20KM in rush hour with no one flashing him. I used to have mine set to 2.5" but because of the bumps in the road here I was in people faces more then I wanted to be. So I dropped them down to 3" and now they sit just under the side mirrors of most cars at 15' away at a red light.

Another thing to look at is the height of the vehicle will determine the cutoff height. I'm not sure what it is but it's like a small car 0-24" 2.5" drop, truck 24-35" 3" drop, high truck 35-45" 3.5" drop. You would have to look it up, or if someone can post it.
I'm guessing you are sitting around 3-3.5" drop at 25'.

Ha Ha, I just reread your 1st post and it makes more sense now! Yes you will have to come down a bit as you are around level right now. This is how I adjust the height of my headlights.
Park anywhere that's flat with 25' level. Get a sheet of paper or some white cardboard
1' X 1' Stand 25' in front of your truck hold paper up so lower part of cutoff is on it, now measure cutoff to the ground. Make your adjustments until you reach the correct drop. Once done drive 25' in front of any wall level or not. Raise or lower the passenger cutoff to align with the drivers side.

Ya if your projectors are at 43" the lower step should be at 40". Honestly i would do a 4" drop. I'm not levelled my lights are are 39" and the step is at 36". Its almost perfect. I can see my cut off on the ground. The blew color flicker hits the signs the only people I know I might be a little high on are really small cars like my gfs focus. .
