I am lost
I am lost
Back ground on my truck.
1998 base model 4.2l V-6, 5 sp with over 178,000 miles.
I replaced the GEM because of a windshield leak. I replacd it ith a brand new revised model the the fun began. My dash lights quit working. I traced the back to the headlight switch that wasn't changing resistance on the dimmer ****. I replaced the switch AFTER testing the new on. Now I have dash lights sometimes.
I pulled the cluster out and replaced all the bulbs (cheap enough), plugged it back in and all was good for a week. Now it's back to lights sometimes. I pulled the cluster out again and while it was still plugged in checked the wires and circuit board at each bulb with a test light and a multi meter. Power acts likes it comes and goes when it wants to.
I've checked all connections from fuse 18 all the way to the gauge cluster as best I can with a light and multi meter. All appear to be good, no corrosion, no breaks of loose wires. I've tweaked the connection on the cluster for the blue/with white stripe wire, but I still get the same results.
Truck is possesed, or I need more meds.
Any help would make me a happy old man.
Thanks in advance
Bob
