No need to apologize - and I think you overreacted.

It was a standard, benign request.

And I attempted to answer yer Q in that other thread...

Maybe a stupid question

I love the info provided by Raptor. I have a 1997 Lariat I bought used 3 years ago. Don't drive it much at night. When I got it, the headlights seemed really bright. Now they look more like regular headlights. Now the stupid question. Is that because they are getting old and are fading. I guess I was use to a bulb working well until it just burned out. I am trying to figure if I need to replace the existing, and still functioning somewhat, bulbs. Thanks for all feedback.

Like most anything else, bulbs age with use and grow progressively dimmer (despite the halogen cycle, the insides of the capsule eventually acquires deposits). Conventional wisdom suggests replacement every year or two to maintain peak performance. ( again - related to hours they are actually on ).

The housings also age - UV causes the lenses to cloud and yellow. You can try to polish them ( and reapply a new UV coating), or you can acquire new housings.

good luck

Great post.
Is there an upgrade to the reverse bulb? I have an '07 FX4.
Also, I've seen LED light bars in the bottom grill opening in the bumper. Do they cut off needed air flow?
thanks

Hey.

Backup lamps are 3156's, stock.

Go here fer some good replacements:

http://www.vleds.com/shop-bulb-numbe...-3156-led.html

You'll want to avoid the 3157/switchback models in that list - there are backup-specific 3156-based bulbs further down the page.

Lower bumper opening - yer aux trans cooler is behind there - I woon't block it completely. Something Minimalist like these cubes would be fine, though:

Good luck!
