Strange problem today when i got back into my truck. I turned on the key to the crank position and nothing happened. The instruments were lit up and everything was normal except the radio display was not lit even tho it was on. Poped the hood & shook the cable (line with the big plastic fusable case) next to battery& then it cranked. It has done this 2 more times. Tired of popping hood to crank my truck. Need help ????

 

Follow the Red cable from the battery down to the starter, look for rot.

Heard of a '98 that rotted away down at the starter end.
