AC problem

Looks like my first post but I had to create a new account.

2001 F150 SC 4x4 5.4

The AC clutch has been engaging and disengaging every few seconds whether in panel heat or AC. Read a lot about being low on Freon or the LP cutoff switch. I jumpered the switch and the clutch stays engaged so I tried adding a little Freon. Put the switch back in service. Now the clutch does not engage at all?? Does that mean I added enough to stop the cycling or is the switch bad. Ran truck for a bit. The High side gets hot but not really getting cool air from vents. I’m a bit confused now. This is my commuter truck so not a huge deal would just like to work properly.

Thanks for any insight……Marty
