Here is a fun A/c problem
Well not for me anyways. Here is my problem, I turn my A/C on or defrost and everything works fine. The after a time(it varies) the air will completely stop coming from the vents(panel if its AC or the windows vents for defrost). You can hear the fan spinning but no air coming from vents whatsoever. It seems to do it more when the fan speed is not on the fastest setting. To get the air back, I need to turn the control to panel for less then a minute then the vents open. I had it in to check for a vaccum leak and they put a new ac switch in and it stop for about 2 weeks and now its back again. When this occurs I get a small amount of water dripping on the passenger side floor mat. They ford tech was supposedly on the phone with Fords tech hotline and they could not figure out the problem when I took it in for a 2nd time. The tech seems to think a pressure check and recharge might find the probelm. He also stated that the evaporator core was working fine. Have any of you guys ever seen this problem before? Thanks.
Don't know about anyone else but it seems to me like the evaporator core is freezing up on you, as evidenced by the dripping water and the fact that it starts working after putting it on vent.
Does your compressor cycle on and off or always stay on? On our trucks the compressors should cycle on and off every couple minutes which is done to maintain the refridgerant temp as well as for fuel economy. If the compressor isn't cycling it may be possible that the condensate on the evaporater is freezing because the coils are getting too cold.
Another possibility is the water drain hole on the evaporater is plugged and water isn't draining properly and freezing. I'm not an AC technician so I can only speak based on past experiences. I would certainly start with the simpler problems first and work your way down to the more difficult and expensive ones.
Good luck!

Supposedly the tech checked out the evap core and its ok. Maybe I should try a different dealer. Also the drain hole is working ok as when it does work it sure is putting water out from under the vehicle. You can also hear the compressor cycling every so often.
Sounds like you still have a vacuum leak. I had the same problem with a car. We had the whole system rebuilt and it was Ice cold but after driving for a while and the engine heated up it would lose vacuum. They replaced some tubing and a switch.
