Vent doesn't switch between floor/defrost 100%

Just picked up an 02 XLT and I have a slight issue with the vents. I had only the defrost on driving at full temp and noticed that my foot was heating up. I reached down and sure enough there was air coming out of the floor vent. I have noticed this on different settings.

I read that the blend door is common, but that is only for the temperature correct? What actually directions the flow of air?

The air outlet directional control is done by vacuum controlled motors which are switched by the climate control mode switch or, if equipped, the EATC.

Make a chart of where the air flows based on which position the mode switch is in.

You mean go thru all the different positions and see where the air is actually travelling? What would that tell me?

It would tell me what works and what doesn't work.

Do you have manual or "digital" AC head?

Defrost is default on all vehicles. Sounds like you've got weak vacuum, check for vacuum leaks in the engine bay, the interior vacuum source is on the fire wall kinda behind the battery area

I'll map out where its going today, but whats the digital vs analog? I have dials.. Are some trucks the climate control type with a digital readout and whatnot?
