blend door actuator

So I finally broke down and got one for my 08. My temp control will not work except when set too full hot or full cold. I put the glove box down to get to it and i can see and feel the motor but can't access it with tools. I'm guessing a panel or two more need removed, I might just take it into a dealership to get it done. I actually found a dodge dealership that I like, my gr got her ram from them and a guy there is a friend of her family and I've gotten to know him really well. He is also over the shop so he makes the calls on stuff. Unless I have more time one day I might have to go that route..anybody do this before and know which panels have to come off if any?

you will have to remove bezel around the radio..remove radio and the junk tray up top...its tight but do-able...

As a matter of fact just got in from replacing mine...springlike today..wow, what a difference..I actually have control over temperature....I operated the old motor when I had radio out and just hooked connectors back up..could actually hear motor struggling...put new motor in..did same..it was smooth..before you disconnect the old motor...set it too cold..the new motor is defaulted to cold..its tight in there...but with patience and good eyes or glasses it takes maybe an hour...you will need a long 8mm open/box end wrench..

those stinking 3 8mm bolts.........they will make you go crazy!

I did a ton of 04-08s when I was working at the dealership.....I hated it.

This Seams like this is a Common problem. Maybe Ford should do a little Quality is Job one and test these things better or get a new manufacturer. I just had the Pssenger one replaced on my not even 3 year old F150 Platinum(42K MIles and Out of Warranty) at the dealer and it cost $670.00 for a $30 Part. Anyone know where I can get step by step directions on how to do both the Passenger and Driver Motors?

Just replaced mine today. The actuator was progressively getting worse to the point where it would either blow full hot or full cold, no in between. Started acting up last fall when I heard a tapping noise behind the dash. Thankful for the internet and forums to get the job done in the driveway without any problems. It is a very tight fit but doable. Taking my time start to finish was 1 hour (all that time on the 3 screws turning 1/8").
