Heater Problem

Today took almost 20 minutes for my heater to finally kick and it wasn't even fully hot just warm. Kept hearing a gurgling type noise from my vents as i drove. Only did the noise when i would be accelerating never when just idling. The A/C portion of my HVAC is functioning perfectly no problems. Didn't gurgle at all with on the A/C. Any ideas what could be the problem and how to fix it.

check your coolant level, the gurgling noise is most likely air in the system. have you had the coolant drained recently? could have an air pocket in it from the refill process if so. if coolant level is low, psi test your cooling system to find your leak. pay attention to your coolant temp gauge is it lower than normal when driving? if so you probably need a new thermostat.

Update:

Was driving the other night and noticed my temp gauge was almost to hot. When i got home i checked my coolant and it was bone dry. I filled it and since then no problems. Had it flushed about 2 years ago. Took it to a mechanic friend of mine and he couldn't find a leak anywhere. So im watching it closely and since i filled it back it hasn't lowered any. When i filled it back up it took about 3.5 pitchers of water.

what did you do to look for a leak? just look it over or pressure test the cooling system? if your coolant was that low it had go somewhere. is the truck smoking at all with any type of burnt coolant smell? best way to check for a leak is pressure test the cooling system, you may have to psi test with the engine cold and hot for a leak to appear, verify you don't have a leaking heater core as well.
