Exclamation Temperature control switch gets stuck

I have a 2005 FX4 and the last couple years the temperature gets stuck on cold or hot when the seasons change. Example: use AC all summer then in fall decide to use heater, spin the dial to Red but it stays stuck on Cold some how but maybe an hour later or next day finally switches over. Well this year when it did it it is finally stuck on medium heat no matter what i spin the dial too. Is the problem the Dial itself or something more internal?????

Sounds like the blend door motor has bit the dust...fairly common problem on these trucks.

Yup I think that's what it is now too. Guess its been an issue from trucks 2005 to 2008 and a TSB 08-23-6. This TSB replaces the 9L3Z-19E616-E Actuator. Even found a how to video:

I'm having this issue with my '07 Lariat with climate control. Only blows hot air at the moment - I have an appointment to get TSB 8-23-6 (blend door motor replacement) performed to fix the hot air problem as I'm not feeling too adventurous about digging into the dash board.

Prior to this, for the life of the truck I've had the problem described in TSB 8-8-9 where there would be a grinding noise when the blend door would move. Does anybody know, will TSB 8-23-6 correct the issue in 8-8-9 or are they two separate parts? I'd love for both to be fixed at the same time, and I'm wondering if I should bring it up with my mechanic...

Thanks,

JIM
