2003 F150 A/C Intermittent On/Off

2003 F150 A/C Intermittent On/Off
I have a 2003 F-150 King Ranch
A/C panel and A/C system will intermittently turn OFF. Typically, the panel will flash ON/OFF quickly (showing full display of LED panel). The A/C system and the panel will then turn Off/go blank. This situation may persist for 1 minute or sometimes as long as 20 minutes during which time A/C is off. The panel will then flash On (full display momentarily) and the A/C system will turn on. It always turns on to "MAX A/C with set point of 60 for temperature". This has been happening for quite a few years and appears to be worse during summer months (Houston) when truck interior temperature is very high (black paint job).
