So first my fuse was blowned replace it put a bottle of coolant compressor turned on later that same day around 3 to 4 hrs ac was completely hot so i have a leak somewhere and i get a bad odor smell inside my truck coming from the ac vents did some research and ll i here is that the heater core is badd can that be the issue cause i dont know what else it can be and if i were to replace heater core is their steps that anyone has to replace as i heard is a pain in the *** to get tooo?

 

I had this problem not too long ago (about 4 months ago), and took it to a repair shop and had it replaced. They had to remove the entire dash, just to get to the thing. Try figuring out a way to do it yourself because it costed me about $900 for parts and labor. I actually was looking around to see if anyone else has this problem because I just had this problem happen to me again today. I believe it is still under warranty, so I will take it to the same shop tomorrow. I will ask questions and let you know what I find out. Also wile I am here, could anyone say if this is a common problem with this truck and if there is any way to prevent this problem in the future? I have an 01 4.6l F150.

Got my truck back today, it took the shop about 2 days to complete the task. It does sound like a common problem and the reason why it happened to me again was because of a defective part. Unfortunately there isn't much that can be done to prevent it. I wasn't able to find out much, except for the fact that it is a very labor intensive job that requires you to remove your whole dash.
