My compressor bearing (4.6 F-150) was making noise since last summer. I just replaced the compressor with new clutch and pulley since I have about 100,000 miles. The service manual showed that you have to take the compressor off to remove the clutch. There is very little room in front of the clutch due to the fan and shroud. Doubt you could get a puller on there with the compressor installed on the truck. A new (not re-manufactured) motorcraft compressor was $200 shipped from Rock Auto. Only $3.00 more than an reman.
