2003 FX4 auto A/C blowing out defrost vent on acceleration

Ok, I've looked at other threads on this that I could find and all seem to be that the A/C is stuck on the defrost. Well, mine comes out of the defrost on acceleration but if your on a level road and there is no additional acceleration it works like it's supposed to. But, if you go up a hill or speed up then it switches to the defrost. Any ideas?? Thanks for the help!!

vacuum leak on the AC system, check on the firewall near the battery first

there should be a plastic vacuum reservoir tucked behind the battery in the fender, follow the plastic vacuum lines going into the firewall.

Do you have "digital air" or mechanical twist *****?

Digital air. I'm going to check the vacuum tube tomorrow but this has not been pleasant. Living in Alabama in the summer has it's drawbacks!

I would start with looking for a leak in the main vacuum system

you might have a leak in the AC control head too, you can rebuild the head by putting new Orings in it.

Well, replacing the O-rings did the trick. It took about 30 mins, one of the easiest things I've done to this truck! Thanks for the help!!

Control head is the part that you adjust mode / air temp, It has vacuum lines going to the back of it.
