my 97 keeps blowing #5 fuse after i caused a short at the a/c switch

i bought this truck a few days ago, its a 97 ford xlt f250 4x4 ld auto 5.4. the a/c compressor would not kick in. i jumped the compressor and it worked fine. so i started doing a bit of searching to see why the compresser was not kicking in, i touched a hot wire to a ground wire on the plug that controls the def,heat,a/c etc, it blew the # 5 fuse and now it keep blowing fuses at once. what has gone wrong? now i feel like a nitwit i know better:o i have everything unpluged that i can find but still the fuse keeps blowing. i think it was the yellow with black stripe and the blue with red stripe that i touched together. i see i have my work cut out for me with the a/c problems that i am reading about, but first i need to stop the fuse from blowing, i need back up lights, horn etc thanks deve madison va

Sounds like the wires are shorted out somewhere and that is causing the fuse to blow. Follow the wires that you touched together back to the fuse box and look for chafed wires.
