05 A/C stopped working

Ok last time I used the ac was 2 weeks ago. Tried to use it again today as it was humid out and nothing happened. Light came on the dash but no cold air. Got the truck home and checked the a/c clutch fuse and its fine. Started the engine and the clutch definately not engaging. Looked in the manual and says there is a diode and a relat in front of coolant reservoir. Popped the cap off and found them but how do you test the little diode and relay? Do you start working at the cheapest part? If the compressor needs replaced it looks like one hell of a job!

PS last week my engine block heater came loose and I lost alot of coolant, temp was 220 degrees when I mage it into the garage and I immediately took a large fan to cool the engine. Could the freon boiled out?

Don't take this the wrong way, but, if you don't how a system works, it's best to either learn how it works or take it to someone who does already know how to work on it. You can waste a lot of time and money guessing or even be injured screwing with an A/C system when you're stumbling around in there.

Yeah, I'm just trying to find out if anyone had this happen to them and what was the problem. I actually have the factory repair manuals for the truck and they are very vague. I'm going to take it to a shop tomorrow and see if the pressure is low on the low side.
