Bad Actuator????
Bad Actuator????
I have been having a problem with my 2007 F-150. The heat gets hot and the A/C is cold so I don't think it is the blend door anymore after researching some of the other threads. My A/C will turn on by itself and will keep running when I turn it off. I saw a similar condition in a previous thread where someone mentioned "Tech Service Bulletin #8-23-6" that mentioned a bad actuator. Does this sound right to the experts on here? There is not any buildup with the heat either - when it is just at the red/blue line, the heat is scorching hot. I am trying to determine what part to ask for so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Not very sure, but if it turns on on its own and stays on even if you turn it off i would assume its a faulty switch panel if im understanding your question right.
So if the mode switch is straight up in the off position it can turn itself on? Or are you talking about just the ac itself (ac compressor turning on) when not in max ac mode/ac button on?

The mode switch is straight up and it will turn itself on. It will also turn on the little yellow "A/C" light by itself. If this switch is bad, will that cause the temperature differences I described?
Yea that sounds like a bad ac panel switch. Its all one big board that controls the mode and temp. The fan is a separate switch within the panel but not on the circuitboard.
What you are describing really sounds like the panel is having issues, i dont think any of the components of the ac would have the ability to turn themselves on or off with the panel being in the off position.
It is very easy to swap out, simply unplug two harnesses and four torx bolts but i have no clue how much a new one will run you. Im guessing they want a pretty penny for them, maybe try to find a cheaper used one on the internet.

Yea..sounds like a bad panel switch assy. Look up the part on Tasca Parts (HVAC) Control panel. they range in price from $180 to $250ish. I have one I took out of my 07 when I put heated mirrors in, it works and is in good shape. It's the manual type with just the A/C switch and the Recirc. switch. If interested PM me, will give you a fair deal on it. Or e-mail; pwhite12@tds(dot)net
