Noticed a change today...

Ive been going back and forward with my A/C not blowing cold air for the past 2 weeks or so. Today I put the Climate controller on auto and it seemed to have gotten much better. I realized that I used to have it with the arrow going towards the head/torso area. But when you select the "auto" button that arrow turns off.
Does this sound right ? What are your A/C settings at ??

Sounds like a blend door actuator. I replaced mine and noticed an improvement. Actuator is a pain to replace, but new design works better. Still not up to par, but I believe a new severe duty fan clutch ($50.89 Rock Auto) will solve this. After reading through most of the HVAC threads, these seem to be the weakest links in A/C. Just my two cents...

Thanks for the heads up. I just saw a thread on that blend door you mentioned. I've also read other guys mention HEavy duty fans from other auto parts. I don't recall which ones they were. I don't think I have one of those near me. (Rock Auto)
I just spent about $130. On a new Ford OEM fan. And although it got better. There is no way it's working to par.
What makes the aftermarket fan better than the oe one?? Its usually the other way around. ??

RockAuto.com. Their prices are the best and shipping is quick and cheap. You should check the core orifice for any debris. Mine was full of plastic (reed valves in the compressor) and metal. I replaced the compressor, accumulator, and c.o. this week. Not the most fun, but not difficult. My 2006 was exhibiting the same behavior before I took it in to the shop to have it recharged. Saved $150 on the parts and $300 on the labor.
