A/C no longer blows cold air, what can I check?

2000 F-150 80,000 miles no longer blows cold air, but did this morning. What are some things I can check before I have to resort to taking it in? Please be fairly descriptive, I do not have a manual here, but will be going to the library tomm. Thanks

You are possibly low on refrigerant and to verify that a gauge reading is necessary. If the readings show a low charge that would indicate a leak in the system. Without repairing the leak you wont be able to hold a charge.

I would start with what Torkum said. In my situation I had a full charge and air was still blowing, just wasn't cold. My A/C compressor ended up breaking a winding and it was rubbing on the case causing it to overheat and disengage. I would say look there if the charge is good.
