noisey in a/c

noisey in a/c
the past few weeks when I first turn on the defrost I here a noise coming from the compressor. It seems to go away after a bit. When it warms up some. Is this norm? this is the first cool season I have had this truck.

I don't know what type of truck you have, but mine operates the compressor/AC in defrost and every position except OFF,PANEL & FLOOR. The compressor also has a distinct engagement thunking sound. Good Luck !!
