Talking Cabin air filters...they really do work!!

I recently had my 15K service done. They changed the cabin air filter, and I was shocked to see how much stuff goes into the cab (or at least tries). I think I will be replacing my filter a little more often.

How much were the filters? Where are they and can they be replaced by yourself or only by the dealer? I have a friend with a chevy venture and the dealer cost is over $125. I have almost 30K and the dealer never replaced mine or even mentioned them. Thanks for the info..

peterjan-

The cabin air filter for our trucks, is a dealer accessory. I believe it can be purchased for around $65-80. The replaceable filter is around $15, and is included with the kit. It is something that anyone can install, but you will have to lay on your back and have little manuvering room beneath the heater core. But it can be done. None of the late model trucks were shipped with the filter already installed. And it is unlikley your dealer know what one is. My service manager had to ask me 'where is it?', and they got to replace it as part of my esp.

Thanks for the reply, it is doubtful that my ride has one. But it might!
