Question Where to set ****?

Where does everyone leave there selector **** for the heater/defroster etc... In my owners manual, it says to leave it on anything but off, to let the system "breath", Is this what everyone does. I usually turn it to the OFF position everytime I get out of my truck. Should I leave it on a different setting for some other reason? I have a 98 f-150.

You should leave it in any position other than Off and Max A/C. Those two positions close off the vents to the outside.

If you use your a/c or heater, there's no reason to ever set the switch to off.

I usually leave mine in the PANEL position for that very reason.

Defrost. Lowest fan speed. Temperature set to cold.

Keeps a little ventilation up on the windshield to demist (and we have cooler temps here and have had a lot of rain, so it helps).

But I've always done that. Blows a little fresh, cool air on my face and keeps the AC compressor engaged to keep the seals lubed and soft, so fewer leaks I am told.

D. All of the above.

Shifter, Dennis, and Jackal all have good points.

This could relate the the musty odor from the vents. Just try to allow fresh air through the vents. That's what the manual had in mind.

There's no need to turn it to the OFF position.

Mine stays on FLR/DEF. Even when I race.

And YES, use the A/C mode or DEFROST in the winter. This will keep oil circulating and will keep the "O" rings lubricated.

If you are cold, turn the temp selector to HOT. The compressor will still run.
