Question AC operating at any vent setting???

It appears (or feels) that even when I have my air flow set on either panel, panal/floor, floor, floor/defrost, or defrost and the temp setting is on the coldest setting, that my air conditioner is operating. I can here it cycling in the engine and AC (cold) air is coming out the vents in the cab. Is this normal???
From my understanding of AC, the AC should only operate when it is set on AC or Max-AC.

Since you're fairly new here, we'll give you break. Normally, one or more of us would be telling you to do a search or read one of the more recent topics that answers your question already. The answer to your question can also be found in your owner's manual.

The compressor runs in all modes except Off, Panel, and Panel/Floor.

The reason the compressor is running in any Defrost mode is to aid in dehumidification of the air. In other words, it helps clear the windshield faster.

btw, the compressor doesn't operate at very low temps (below 30 something degrees). Don't remember the exact temp, but it's also in the manual.

Good post Dennis!

The temp that the A/C will not operate is below 50 F (10 C).

Actually, the compressor will run in any setting except Off, Panel or Floor. The Panel/Floor Setting does run the compressor.

Oops, I goofed. You're right about the Floor Vs. Panel/Floor mode.
