Low pressure A/C switch?
A/C died while driving home from work; blower works just no cold air. After reading different threads I was able to do some basic troubleshooting as follows:
- Checked fuses 11,14 and 32; all ok
- Replaced the A/C compressor relay but no change
- Compressor is not cycling, so I ran a jumper cable from the low pressure switch connector and the compressor started working. Was not sure if this was because of the switch or no refrigerant.
Static pressure was about 60 psi so I am reluctant to add more refrigerant. At this point I plan on replacing the low pressure switch. Does the system have to be vented before replacement? I read somewhere this a schrader value in the accumulator that will prevent any leakage but not sure if this is true for Fords or my model. Would appreciate any feedback to confirm I am working in the right direction.
