AC compressor on 2 seconds, off 4 seconds .... repeat

Hello,

99 F150 4.6V8, 165,000 miles. I replaced my condensor 4 years ago. System worked fine until now. No cold air now. Here is what I'm observing with AC on normal or max, at an idle (probably at hwy speed too as I can hear it in the cab while on the road).

Compressor does not run, high side pressure goes from 10 psi to 45 psi in the span of about 4 seconds.

Then the compressor kicks in for 2 seconds, which is the amount of time it takes the pressure to drop back down to 10 psi.

Repeat cycle to infinity ....!

Am I just low on refrigerant, or do I have a bigger problem? I noticed a slight decrease in cooling ability last summer but it was very tolerable.

Any help would be appreciated. Thx.

GL.

It cycles cause its low on refergerant. Pressures should be between 30-40 on low side and 200-250 high side or so. Depends on the temp and humidity outside.

I think he figured out what the problem is since he posted a link to the relevant thread that answered his question.
