AC Help needed

I have a 2000 F250 7.3l Diesel, I was about to change out my compressor and dryer because my buddy said my compressor was bad. So as I was going to relieve the pressure on the system I noticed there was no pressure on the system. So, I put a can of freon in it and the compressor started to cycle on then back off, on, off, on, off. I turned off the truck and heard the system leaking everything I put into it. It was leaking out of The AC pressure cut off valve ( this is the name I got over the phone from the ford dealer) It is a small brass valve that is attached to the hose assembly that attaches to the back of the compressor. I could plug it with my finger and feel it all leaking out of this valve. Is the valve shot or do I have other major issues as to the reason why the freon is just shooting out of this valve. I can not find much info any advice would be much appreciated.

The pressure release valve is individually replaceable.

Get a new buddy to diagnose AC systems - that one isn't qualified.
