Manual HVAC replaced with Automatic

I have a 2004 F150 FX4 with manual HAVC and before I attempt to install a automatic unit I was wondering if you are able to do a direct replacement without modifications, or just be content with what I have ... Thanks

From what I have heard it is a lot of work and money. For that I can turn some handles.
